We can rightly consider \u00c9rdet the southern gate of our capital. The area and population of the settlement, located barely 10 kilometers from Budapest, rivals that of medium-sized districts of the capital. The city, which has county rights, has a diverse range of buildings, so those involved in sewer cleaning face many challenges. Especially because the sewer service is still lacking in most parts of the city.<\/p>\n\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

Traces of human life have been found in \u00c9rd since about 50,000 years ago. Some of the finds discovered by archaeologists can now be seen in the famous Hungarian Geographical Museum in the city. The first documented mention of the settlement dates back to the 13th century. Although at that time they only lived in the Old Town, both its area and population expanded in the following century. However, during the Turkish occupation \u2013 due to its location near the border \u2013 the city was almost completely depopulated, and the rebuilding of the settlement could only begin in the 18th century.<\/p>\n

After the creation of the united Budapest in 1873, the development of the city of \u00c9rd accelerated. Partly due to the relatively cheap land prices and partly due to the favorable access to nearby workplaces, residents came here from many parts of the country. While initially a holiday resort, by the mid-20th century the settlement, which had swelled to a population of several tens of thousands, was known as \u201ethe largest village in Central Europe\u201d.<\/p>\n

Due to its dynamic development, the city was divided into 11 districts in the 1960s, a division that remained until the 2000s. Nowadays, however, it is no longer the district number that helps us identify which part of the city we are in, but rather the names of the neighborhoods (e.g. \u00d3falu, Parkv\u00e1ros, etc.).<\/p>\n\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

The entire city of \u00c9rd is characterized by a diverse range of buildings. While there are ten-story panel houses in the city center, the suburbs are dominated by single-story family houses. Nowadays, one of the biggest problems of \u00c9rd is the city's low level of sewerage. According to the data, only every fourth apartment in the settlement has a built-in sewerage network. With a sewerage rate of 23 percent, \u00c9rd is in the worst position compared to the surrounding settlements (Di\u00f3sd, T\u00e1rnok), while it has the largest population of the three cities.<\/p>\n

Although the \u00c9rd wastewater collection plant receives wastewater from the three mentioned settlements, another problem is the poor technical condition of the currently operating collection network.<\/p>\n

This can be particularly problematic during rainy periods. At such times, large amounts of rainwater and wastewater arrive from the areas of the aforementioned settlements. Since the amount of rainfall fluctuates between extremes, the treatment of the incoming wastewater sometimes causes operational problems.<\/p>\n

The \u00c9rd Sewerage Water Management Company is therefore planning to expand the current wastewater treatment plant. According to plans, the wastewater treatment plant will be built in several stages, and the finished building will be integrated into the unified system. After the development, the total area of the wastewater treatment plant will be approximately 35,000 m2.<\/p>\n\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>
