It could even be called the little brother of the city of \u00c9rd, as the history of the two settlements has been intertwined for a long time. However, the large village of T\u00e1rnok is much more than that: a diverse, welcoming settlement that has preserved its original atmosphere to this day. It is home to nearly 9,000 people, and with its many attractions, it can be an attractive destination for those planning a shorter trip.<\/p>\n\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

Both the inner and outer areas of T\u00e1rnok have been continuously inhabited since prehistoric times. The city's excellent natural features and water sources were considered an attractive alternative for residents moving here.<\/p>\n

The earliest mention of the settlement dates back to the 1250s, when it was named Tavarnuk, together with the neighboring village of Deszka. It was named after its inhabitants, the t\u00e1rnoks, as the village was one of the servant villages in the Buda area. In the following times, the settlement appeared under several names in contemporary documents. For example, Tawarnucweg, Taarnuk, Th\u00e1rnok, but we can also find the name Tharnuk.<\/p>\n

Like many other settlements in the area, T\u00e1rnok was destroyed during the Turkish occupation. During the reconstruction of the town in the 18th century, Polish, Slovak and Hungarian families moved here. Among them, not only the Hungarian, but also the Slovak population preserves its language, traditions and customs, and the population of Tot origin in the settlement is still significant today.<\/p>\n

T\u00e1rnok's boom can be attributed to the 1930s: between the two world wars, a railway station, post office and telegraph office were built in the settlement. Today, the excellent infrastructure is still characteristic, as the large village can be reached by train from Budapest within half an hour, and there is also an elementary school and a private doctor within its area.<\/p>\n

Even today, the settlement has a close relationship with the neighboring \u00c9rd. In practice, the border between the two settlements is not sharply separated from each other, because \u2013 traveling north from road 7, towards Sz\u00e9kesfeh\u00e9rv\u00e1r \u2013 the buildings follow each other almost without interruption. Their geographical proximity also justified the fact that these settlements also solve common problems with joint efforts.<\/p>\n\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

As in the case of the city of \u00c9rd, the low level of sewerage is a serious problem in the case of T\u00e1rnok. Only about a quarter of households (26 percent) are provided with central sewage disposal. Therefore, in 2008, the settlements of \u00c9rd, T\u00e1rnok and Di\u00f3sd jointly applied for the development of the sewage network. With the application supported by the European Union, the three settlements mentioned above used a total of 32 billion forints for sewerage, of which T\u00e1rnok received about a tenth \u2013 3.3 billion forints. However, the Union only covered 78% of the necessary amount of money, the remaining 2.4 billion had to be raised by the town councilors. The self-financing was partly financed by the local government through bond issuance and partly from public contributions.<\/p>\n

This money will enable the laying of the backbone network and the introduction of pipes to the ends of the gardens. However, households must connect to this stub, which the residents had to pay for in full. Thanks to the investment, the supply of T\u00e1rnok with sewerage is increasing, and the connection of additional areas to the network is currently in progress.<\/p>\n\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>
