Taksony had temporary residents as early as the early Middle Ages. The settlement was probably named after the Hungarian leader who lived in the tenth century because the conquering Hungarians used the area as their summer residence. Although the settlement was completely conquered by the Turks, it became completely uninhabited not because of the conquerors, but during the Fifteen Years' War at the end of the century.<\/p>\n

The rebirth of the settlement was delayed until the end of the 17th century. From then on, a larger proportion of Swabians were moved in. Although the number of Swabians living here decreased during the two world wars, the culture of this ethnic group still determines the life of the large community.
