A few millennia later, the Romans also utilized the area. The world-conquering people built a castrum, or ancient military camp, at the strategically important location. Presumably, on the orders of Emperor Diocletian, Contra Aquincum was established in the 3rd century, which was built further south of the settlement of the same name, and already showed the shrinking territory of the vast empire. Which happened barely two centuries later: after the decline of the Roman Empire, the area first fell into the hands of the Huns, then the Goths, and then the Avars.<\/p>\n
Like many other settlements in the region, the area of Dunaharaszti was also part of the settlement of the conquering Hungarians. During the reign of the \u00c1rp\u00e1d kings, the settlement became part of the Csepel-sziget royal estate. It is true that its owners changed frequently. The first documented mention of the settlement dates back to the end of the 13th century, and it was about the Haraszti forest located on the border of Taksony.<\/p>\n
The Haraszti region developed continuously until the Turkish occupation, but by the 1590s it had declined significantly due to the high taxes imposed by the conquerors. The reconquest of Hungary did not benefit its inhabitants either, as a plague epidemic broke out during the R\u00e1k\u00f3czi War of Independence.<\/p>\n
However, the town began to prosper in the second half of the 18th century. For example, the beekeeping industry developed at this time, the memory of which is preserved to this day by the beehive seen in the coat of arms of Dunaharaszti.<\/p>\n
The R\u00e1ckeve H\u00c9V and the railway brought about a great change in the life of the settlement. With the direct, fixed-track connection to the capital, Haraszti became very attractive for businesses and those wishing to relax. Therefore, during the 20th century \u2013 except for the period of the two world wars \u2013 the town developed vigorously. The infrastructure of the settlement began to be developed to a large extent from the seventies: At that time, the most significant part of the piped water, gas and electricity networks were built.<\/p>\n
After the change of regime, Dunaharaszti's economic and social life became more vibrant.
