Buda's diverse district: the 3rd district, which also includes \u00d3buda and B\u00e9k\u00e1smegyer. It has nearly 130 thousand inhabitants. The 3rd district is bordered by Sz\u00e9pv\u00f6lgyi \u00fat to the south, while to the north \u2013 among others \u2013 the city of Budakal\u00e1sz. Perhaps its vast area also explains why the district does not present a uniform picture today. While a few minutes' walk from Szentl\u00e9lek t\u00e9r, which can be considered the busiest part of \u00d3buda, we can find buildings that have still preserved their unique old atmosphere, the area around Fl\u00f3ri\u00e1n t\u00e9r is surrounded by ten-story houses in the modern, or now more of a socialist realist style. Not to mention the ground-floor apartment buildings in Kasz\u00e1sd\u0171l\u0151, or the elegant properties in Csillaghegy. The diverse building types of the 3rd district also pose many challenges for those who blockage<\/a> are being eliminated in the \u00d3buda-B\u00e9k\u00e1smegyer area.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0From Roman times to the present day<\/strong>

There is no doubt that we can find artifacts from prehistoric times in the southern part of the capital's 3rd district. However, most people still remember the Roman era memories of \u00d3buda, more precisely Aquincum. The former legionary camp was the starting point for the birth of our future capital.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Around the 1st century AD, as a result of the Roman conquests, the northern border of the vast empire extended to our country. The Roman soldiers built a limes of huge walls and towers along the Danube, which was able to resist barbarian attacks for centuries. Around 6,000 soldiers were stationed in the area of today's Fl\u00f3ri\u00e1n Square, and the settlement of Aquincum provided a home for around 50-60 thousand people in its heyday.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

It is true that the early Middle Ages were also dark for the Aquincumians, as in the 5th century the former military town was razed to the ground by the invading barbarian hordes, the center of Lower Pannonia. On the other hand, the area of today's \u00d3buda has been a newly inhabited area since the Age of Migration, and in fact, the role of the region became increasingly prominent in the Middle Ages. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Over the centuries, several parts of the settlement (e.g. Csillaghegy, R\u00f3maif\u00fcrd\u0151, etc.) were given the status of market towns or garden towns. In the early 1900s, the development of \u00d3buda-B\u00e9k\u00e1smegyer received a new impetus, as with the development of the manufacturing industry, Austrian, Polish and Czech industrialists and workers settled in the part of the city. Today, the 3rd district has become one of the dynamically developing and vibrant districts of the Buda side, and it can be attributed, among other things, to the improved road and public transport that Budapesters still enjoy moving to this peaceful and diverse district.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
