In previous articles, we have written about how practices can be used if a stubborn blockage develops, and in what cases immediately notify a specialist, but now we will analyze what to do to prevent the formation of blockages.
Let's see what to look out for:
Toilet:
The first and most important thing to do is to never throw things down the toilet that don't belong there! Don't flush food scraps, don't throw toiletries in, check to see if the air freshener is still in place, and make sure it hasn't accidentally fallen into the toilet! Never throw away wet wipes or dirty cat litter after use. toilet into a cup, but into the trash!
Tip:
- use water-soluble toilet paper towels, because in addition to dissolving in water and not causing blockages, we also produce less waste with them!
- Collect used cooking oil (which also does not belong in the toilet) and drop it off at a MOL gas station or at a designated place!
Sink:
Almost any solid material can end up in the bathroom, from hair to soap scum to small objects. Who hasn't dropped a small, inappropriate object into the sink?! If you find yourself in this situation, try to somehow fish out the object, as it could cause a huge problem!
Tip:
Try to use cosmetics that contain as many natural ingredients as possible and that dissolve well in warm water, as this not only benefits the drain, but also the environment!
Bathtub, shower, floor drain:
Our bathtub and shower tray are also areas that we use several times a day, especially if we are not alone in the household. Anything from liquids, oils to solids can happen here. After washing our hair, it is best to immediately remove any hair clumps left in the filter, as everyone knows what problems it can cause if left there. After using bath salts, if we find that they have not dissolved properly, we should also remove them, even with hot water, as this can also cause a big mess!
Tip:
- After showering or bathing, rinse the shower tray/tub with the hottest water available from the tap to remove all substances used during our cleansing process! while showering, bathing,
- When you are not washing your hair, remove the filter for the duration of the process, as it slows down the water flow, which can cause blockages!
- the bathroom Pour a large pot of boiling water into the floor drain once a month to dissolve the dirt accumulated on the pipes!
Sink:
Before washing dishes, make sure that all solid food residue from dirty plates and dishes has landed in the trash, as this is what causes the sink to clog in most cases. Try to use a natural, biodegradable, conditioner-free detergent that is liquid, not solid, as these can deposit on the walls of the pipes, causing blockages.
Tip:
In addition to always washing dishes with running hot water, try to make it a part of your cleaning routine once a month to pour a large pot of boiling water down your sink drain!
As it turns out, with a little attention, it is very easy to avoid blockage in the bathroom and in the kitchen both, even if you don't want to invest too much effort and energy into prevention processes.
