But let's stick with grease, as we want to talk about the beneficial effects of grease traps. These devices are used in factories and kitchens, where more grease and oil pollution than average is generated.
We would like to add right now that it is worth including in your home practices those methods that can significantly reduce the amount of grease that gets into the drain. The simplest thing is to wipe the stew bowl with a paper napkin and throw the greasy napkin in the trash. The same is true when cleaning the deep fryer: it is not good to pour the used oil into the sink along with the hot dishwashing water. Oil and grease will definitely stick to the walls of the pipes, at first only as a film, but then small grains of sand, smaller dirt, hair, and fur can also stick to it. And if dirt settles on the inner surface of the pipe, it will get fatter and fatter in the following period. Don't think that there could be an oil eater hiding in the pipe, or as the title of the Czechoslovak film of the eighties said, Ropaci. Oil guzzlers only exist in fake news and exam videos, and sooner or later the home or industrial sewage system will become clogged if we don't pay attention to fats and oils.
Now, the grease trap is a clever device whose job is to bind oils and grease layers that are usually lighter than water. The grease and oil float on top of the water, which is what the grease trap filters out. The device is effective as long as the grease and oil tank is not filled. In restaurants and industrial kitchens with high traffic, this happens quickly, which means that the grease trap needs to be cleaned often.
